FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Know what to expect before we talk.

These answers cover the standard questions about pricing, experience, process, risk and working arrangements. That lets an Opportunity Call focus on your workflow, its economics and whether there is a practical engagement worth pursuing.

PRICING & COMMITMENT

Start small enough to make a responsible decision.

How much does an engagement cost?

A focused Workflow Assessment is typically $2,500–$5,000 as a fixed fee engagement. A Focused Automation Pilot is generally $7,500–$20,000. Production implementations start at $25,000, and managed automation support starts at $1,500 per month. Final pricing depends on workflow complexity, integrations, data sensitivity, required controls, schedule and delivery responsibility. These are planning ranges, not binding quotes.

Is the first conversation free?

Yes. The 20–30 minute Opportunity Call is a free fit conversation about one workflow. We discuss the process, frequency, people, systems and business impact in general terms. It is not a substitute for a paid assessment, technical design session or implementation work.

Do we have to commit to a large implementation?

No. Most organizations should begin with one workflow. The assessment, pilot, production implementation and managed support are separate decisions. You can stop after any phase. Each phase must produce enough evidence to justify the next.

What do we receive from a Workflow Assessment?

A typical assessment includes a current state workflow map, business impact and ROI assumptions, feasibility findings, integration and data considerations, security and human review boundaries, prioritized recommendations, a future state design and a scoped implementation path. The output remains useful even if Star Ridge does not perform a later implementation.

What happens if automation is not worthwhile?

We will say so. The recommendation may be not to automate, to improve the process first, or to use a simpler conventional solution. The assessment is intended to produce a responsible decision, not force an implementation.

EXPERIENCE & DELIVERY

Direct answers about who will do the work.

Is Star Ridge Systems a new company?

Yes. Star Ridge Systems is a new, led directly by the founder engineering company building its initial client portfolio. We state that directly and do not present demonstrations as customer deployments.

What experience does the founder bring?

Founder and Principal Engineer E. Matthew England brings more than 28 years of software engineering experience spanning enterprise systems, cloud platforms, systems integration, DevSecOps, automation, regulated environments and complex technical operations. Early engagements receive his direct involvement from discovery through delivery.

How do you reduce the risk of working with a new company?

We begin with one defined workflow, use a written scope, establish acceptance criteria, preserve human approval where judgment matters, and proceed in stages. Production access, sensitive data handling, security responsibilities, ownership and support obligations are defined in the applicable agreement before implementation.

How long does the work take?

Timing depends on stakeholder availability, workflow complexity, integrations and access requirements. A focused assessment commonly takes approximately two to four weeks. A pilot commonly takes four to eight weeks. The written proposal establishes the actual schedule, dependencies and client responsibilities.

Do you work only with law firms?

No. Legal is the first active market and the current demonstration uses a legal workflow. The same engineering approach applies to accounting, insurance, healthcare administration, aerospace, aviation and other professional services organizations with expensive manual work.

DATA, CONTROL & OWNERSHIP

Define the boundaries before implementation.

How is confidential or privileged information handled?

Do not send confidential, privileged, regulated or classified information, information subject to export controls, or sensitive client information through an initial inquiry. Appropriate contractual, security and data handling arrangements must be established before sensitive information is exchanged. Each engagement defines the systems, permissions, retention, access and responsibilities appropriate to the work.

Will AI make decisions without human approval?

Not where professional judgment or accountability must remain with a person. Star Ridge designs human review, exception handling and auditability into the workflow according to the use case and risk. The goal is controlled assistance, not unaccountable autonomy.

Do you replace our existing software?

Usually not. We first look for ways to improve the workflow and connect systems the organization already owns. Replacement is considered only when the existing system is itself the limiting factor and the business case supports a change.

Who owns the data, software and configurations?

Customer data remains the customer's data. Ownership and licensing of custom code, reusable Star Ridge components, external services, configurations and work products are defined in the proposal and contract before work begins. We do not rely on an unstated assumption.

What support is available after implementation?

Support can be limited to a defined stabilization period or continue through a managed automation agreement. Ongoing services may include monitoring, issue response, evaluation, regression testing, controlled configuration changes and optimization. Service levels and responsibilities are defined in writing.

Bring one workflow

Choose a process that is frequent, costly, slow, repetitive or difficult to scale.

Know the impact

Estimate who touches it, how often it occurs and what delay or rework it creates.

Keep the first call general terms

No confidential or privileged information is needed to determine initial fit.

Use the call to discuss the work, not basic sales questions.

If these answers fit your expectations, bring one workflow and we will determine whether it has enough operational and economic weight to examine further.
